Australian Institute of Sport

The Australian Institute of Sport is best known as the national training campus, but its events team hires out ten spaces across the Bruce site for conferences, meetings, exhibitions and corporate functions. Rooms, catering, parking and accommodation all sit on the one campus, which is what makes it work for multi-day events.

The Gold Room is the largest of the function rooms at roughly 196 square metres — 120 theatre-style, 100 for a banquet or 42 around a boardroom table — with the Silver, Bronze, Marathon and Relay rooms scaling down from there to meetings of 20. For presentations, the Charlesworth Theatrette seats 314 plus six wheelchair spaces and comes with a wireless hearing loop, a 300-inch screen and a laser projector, while the smaller Visitor Centre Theatrette seats 69. The AIS Arena is the outlier: 6,000 capacity, 1,850 square metres of floor, 12.6 metres of clearance and a loading dock big enough for exhibitions and trade shows.

Day delegate packages are all-inclusive — venue hire, projector and screen, electronic whiteboard, flip chart, microphones, campus-wide Wi-Fi, teas, a hot lunch and parking. Catering comes from Trippas White Group, a two-time Savour Australia National Site Caterer of the Year, for groups from 10 to 300 or more, and the events team can add team-building sessions or a presentation from an athlete, coach or sport scientist.
