The Marie Reay Teaching Centre is the six-storey timber building at the heart of ANU’s Kambri precinct, a short walk from Civic and the light rail. Outside teaching hours its rooms are available for hire, and the draw for events is the Superfloor on Level 6 — a single open floor of roughly 900m² with ceilings one and a half times standard height and a balcony wrapping the top of the building for uninterrupted views over the campus and the city.

The furniture is all movable, so the floor reconfigures around the occasion: 300 standing for a launch or reception, 300 theatre-style for a conference or AGM, 200 on rounds for a dinner, or 140 cabaret for a workshop day. Presentation facilities are built in rather than hired — three NEC projectors on motorised screens, 24 distributed loudspeakers, Shure wireless microphones, assistive listening and Echo360 lecture capture, all driven from a Crestron touch panel. Natural light on every side, air conditioning and lift access throughout.

Smaller rooms on the floors below take 30, 60 or 120 guests each and are commonly booked alongside the Superfloor for breakout sessions, focus groups and boardroom meetings. Underground parking runs to 300 spaces with lift access directly into the building, discounted for event packages and free for three hours on weekends.

A photo booth suits the Superfloor particularly well — the balcony and the timber structure give guests somewhere to gather between sessions, and Shutter Share sets up in the corner of the floor without eating into the space you have configured for the event itself.
