Railway Barracks The 1935 sleeping barracks for Goulburn's first train drivers, restored into an events hall with a sprung dance floor and on-site accommodation for up to 44 guests. Goulburn GoulburnRailway Barracks began life in 1935 as the sleeping quarters for Goulburn’s first train drivers, and the fully renovated building now works as an events venue with accommodation attached. That combination is the point of it: guests can celebrate late and stay put, with beds for up to 44 across twin rooms, doubles and the original-style barrack bunks.
The events hall has a dance floor, hi-fi speakers and ambient lighting, and the venue hosts wedding receptions, corporate events, dance socials across Latin, swing, tango and ballroom, murder mystery nights, yoga workshops and weekend retreats. A fully equipped residential kitchen, data projector and Sonos system cover the practical side. Outside there is a fire pit, barbecue and gazebo. It sits two kilometres from the Goulburn CBD, directly across the road from the Rail Heritage Centre — roughly an hour from Canberra and two from Sydney.
