East Hotel is a family-run boutique hotel on Canberra Avenue, sitting between Kingston and Manuka and a short walk from Manuka Oval and the Kingston Foreshore. Open since 2012, it trades on moody, design-led interiors and Italian hospitality rather than the neutral look of a typical conference hotel, which gives events here a warmer backdrop than most.
Celebrations range from intimate private dinners cooked by the Agostinis kitchen through to stand-up cocktail receptions in the lobby, where the double-height space and piazza feel suit launches and larger parties. Seven rooms cover everything in between — the Crema Room takes up to 90 guests and the Daily Chronicle Room up to 80, each configurable for banquet, cabaret or cocktail. Catering is Italian and in house, Joe’s Bar handles pre-drinks and late-night music, and the hotel’s 140 studios and apartments mean guests can stay on site.
