The Canberra Southern Cross Club has been a fixture of the city’s function scene for decades, and its Tuggeranong venue is the southside counterpart to the club at Woden. It sits in the Greenway town centre on the corner of Pitman and Holwell Streets, with undercover parking on site — a small thing that matters a great deal on a wet Saturday night in a formal outfit.
The Brindabella Room upstairs is the main function space, and it was retained through the club’s recent refurbishment. Downstairs the club runs Southbound Clubhouse & Grill for lunch and dinner, the more intimate Terrace dining area within it, Henry’s Family Restaurant, and a café. Entertainment runs to trivia nights, live music and themed dinners. The late licence — 2am Sunday to Thursday, 4am Friday and Saturday — means receptions here are not hurried out the door.
