Communities at Work - Tuggeranong Community Centre

Not-for-profit community centre beside Lake Tuggeranong with three hire rooms — the Lakeview Room for up to 108 guests, the Balcony Room for 43 and the Jetty Room for 12 — each with its own kitchenette and AV, and access from 7am to 10pm seven days.

The Tuggeranong Community Centre sits on Cowlishaw Street on the edge of Lake Tuggeranong, a few minutes’ walk from the Tuggeranong town centre and its free car parks. It is run by Communities at Work, the not-for-profit that also operates the Gungahlin and Denman Village centres, which keeps hire rates well below what a commercial function room costs.

Three rooms are available. The Lakeview Room — signed as the Lake View Ballroom — is the big one, seating up to 108 for birthdays, engagements, conferences and dance classes, with the lake as a backdrop. The Balcony Room takes up to 43, and the Jetty Room is a 12-seat meeting space with a screen. Each has its own kitchenette and AV gear, tables and chairs come with the hire, and catering can be arranged through the centre.

The office is open weekdays 9am to 4.30pm, but hirers get the building seven days a week from 7am to 10pm — so a Saturday evening function is not squeezed into business hours. We have set the booth up in the foyer outside the Lake View Ballroom, where guests pass it on the way in and the high ceiling gives the lighting room to work.
